     Central Plains Automotive : About

Central Plains Automotive has been serving the Creston and Surrounding Area with quality pre-owned vehicles since 2003. We go up and beyond our competetors by finding some of the best pre-owned vehicles on the market today. By having sole access to quality trade-ins from several large market dealerships along with spending countless hours hand picking the best vehicles at national and independent dealer only automobile auctions rest assured that you will be getting the up-most quality vehicle with us.

What sets us apart from the others you may ask? That question comes up from time-to-time. Our response is that we not only find the best vehicles to re-sell, but we go to the extreme on reconditioning and servicing the vehicles before they are available for sale. We take pride in the fact that we not only service every vehicle for sale, but we believe that we have the cleanest pre-owned cars in the area. Not only will the vehicles speak for themselves, but you are going to get the friendliest and most honest personell in the business. We have built our foundation on trust. Trust and Honesty is the single most important part of our business. We want our customers to feel that they are not only customers but a friend and having the feeling of being part of a family.

Automobile purchases are generally the largest purchase and investment in ones life other than real estate. We take that very seriously and keep that in mind each time a person comes to our business to give us a chance to earn their business. What we want people to understand is that we dont want to just sell you a car. Instead what we want people to know is that we want to coach people how to make good decsions in automobile ownership. That includes financing, warranties, purchase prices, and probably most important how to properly maintain that vehicle so you can feel 100% confident with your vehicle at all times. So if you just want the cheapest vehicle around we are not your source, but if you are looking for someone to answer your questions and walk you through automobile ownership and have the confident you are getting the great vehicle with the best services than you have came to the right Place.

I have been in the automobile industry for approximately 10 years. Starting my career while going to AIB
College of Business, I worked for 3 years at Quality Ford in West Des Moines. While there I worked in every aspect of the dealership, learning all the daily responsibilities of running a dealership. I started in the detail dept,
then on to the service dept and warranty billing, moving from that into the office area learning all the financial
and title paperwork, and ended up in the sales and finance sector.

After getting an offer to work at one of the nations most premier dealerships, I packed my bags and moved to Phoenix, AZ. I started working at the WORLDS Largest Cadillac Dealership named Lund Cadillac Hummer and Saab. I started by helping manage the Used Car Dept on the Service and Reconditioning Side of it. There I learned what a used vehicle is really like. There was no excuses and money was not an object to make sure that LUND had the best of the best on the Pre-Owned side of their vehicles. From there I helped get the dealership expand their sales in the intrest of Internet Sales. I worked very hard developing many aspects of getting the Internet sales up and going. We were one of the first dealerships to start selling inventory on Ebay, and I also worked with a sister-company called Hummer of Scottsdale to get world wide exposure.

After that 3 year run of excitement, we made the move back to Iowa to start this business and build a legacy for my family. On a more personal basis I have been married to my wonderful wife Trisha for 8 years. We have two beautiful children. Tyler is 5 years old and enjoys school, hunting, and most sports. Maylee is 3 and enjoys barbies, clothes(especially dresses), and dancing. We have 2 Dogs; Dakota a 7 yr old Lhasa Apso and Toby a 6 yr old Italian Greyhound. We as a family enjoy most doing family activities, All Iowa Hawkeye Sports, Baseball(Twins and Cubs), Watching movies, playing Wii, Camping, Boating and spending time with Family and Friens. Some Activies I enjoy other than Cars are, Hunting, Fishing, Wildlife, All Sports, Fixing things, Gardening, grilling/Barbequing, and sitting back and enjoying an ice cold beer. For the dealership my responsibilities are purchasing, servicing, reconditioning, sales, and financing.

I have been employed by Central Plains Electric Since it was purchased in July of 1986 by my brother Gary and sister-in-law Darlene Riley. I am divoced with 2 grown children Pam and Rod, 5 grand children which are Stacey, Travis, Josh, Austin, and Brandon, and 1 great-grand child Brayden.

Since I knew nothing of this type of business when I started, I had to learn it from the Ground Up. My Experience was in sales from Real Estate, Retail, and Newspaper Classifieds Ads. I am involved in every aspect of the Electrical Business except the actual repair work. My responsibilites include waiting on the customers, answering the phone, writing invoices, billing, inventory, ordering, pricing, shipping and receiving, parts locating, mail, computer work, and anything else asked of me. I multi-task most of the time, but I like being busy. The customer is always number one in my book.

I also have had another job since 1979. Twice a week I do a 45 minute live radio program for Creston Radio. The Show is Called Everyday living in which a Co-Host and I take phone calls and give reciepes, cooking advice, and helpful hints. I have enjoyed the program very much. I also have a love of flowers, whether it be real or artificial. I have enjoyed making, selling, and giving away artificial floral arrangements. The Summer months find me lanting and working in my large flower garden. I also enjoy listening to country music, watching mystery movies, and several tv shows. Most Important in my life ar my family and friends. I absolutely love spending time with my kids, grand kids, and the great grand baby.

In 2006, my nephew Josh Opened a Used Car Business at the Same Location as Central Plains Electric. I help out by writing invoices, doing misc. paperwork, and tracking the service appointments. I also help out by helping the customers when they come in and assist in taking notes and whatever assistance I can provide.
